Mental model

Magnetic field lines ek invisible force ka naksha (map) hain, bilkul jaise wind lines hawa ke bahav ko dikhati hain.

Magnet ke aas paas ek invisible ilaka hota hai jismein uski force feel hoti hai. Us force ka flow dikhane ke liye hum imaginary lines banate hain, jinhe magnetic field lines kehte hain. Ye lines magnet ke North pole se nikalti hain aur South pole mein entry leti hain.

Explanation

Magnetic field ek aisi quantity hai jismein direction aur magnitude dono hote hain (yaani vector quantity). Kisi bar magnet ke aaspas ke magnetic field ko samajhne ke liye hum imaginary lines ka sahara lete hain jinhein magnetic field lines kehte hain.

In lines ki kuch bahut important properties hoti hain. Pehli, bahar ki taraf yeh humesha North pole se start hoti hain aur South pole par merge hoti hain. Magnet ke andar inki direction South pole se North pole ki taraf hoti hai, jisse ye continuous closed curves banati hain.

Doosri sabse badi property yeh hai ki jahan par magnetic field lines paas paas (crowded) hoti hain, wahan magnetic force sabse strong hota hai, jaise poles ke paas. Jahan lines door-door hoti hain, wahan field weak hota hai.

Aur teesri important baat, do magnetic field lines kabhi bhi ek dusre ko cross (intersect) nahi karti. Socho agar wo cross karti, toh point of intersection par compass needle ko do alag directions dikhani padti, jo ki scientifically impossible hai.

  1. Magnetic field lines kabhi open nahi hoti, wo North se nikal kar South par jaati hain, aur magnet ke andar South se North wapas aati hain.

Answer: False. They are closed continuous curves.

Problem: Why don't two magnetic field lines intersect each other?

  1. Ek point par magnetic field ki sirf ek hi net direction ho sakti hai (jahan compass ki needle point karegi).
  2. Agar lines intersect karti hain, iska matlab intersection point par compass ko do directions point karni padengi, jo ki practically impossible hai.

Answer: If they intersected, the compass needle would point in two different directions at the point of intersection, which is impossible.
